our story

Named after my grandfather, Benito, I was given the nickname Benny by many of my friends in my hometown of El Paso, TX. Growing up, I aspired to be a doctor because I enjoy helping people. After fainting in the hematology lab at the hospital while attending the medical program in high school, I panicked and concluded that I needed to pick a different career. At 18, with a suitcase of work clothes, a box of cheap tools, a spring mattress, and $20 in my pocket, I jumped in my truck and headed to Dallas to work with a friend in construction. You can say I became a jack of all trades, but a master of one. The electrical field caught my attention, so I became an electrician.  In 2004, I joined the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) apprenticeship program in Irving and attained my Texas State Master Electrician license before graduating in 2008. The opportunity to teach electrical theory at IEC presented itself the next year. Teaching has been just as rewarding as putting on a lab coat in high school (before the hematology lab of course). Eight years later, Azer Electric LLC was formed. Seeing the smiles and joy on customers’ faces when we turn on the lights is priceless. The excitement a customer gets after plugging in their electric vehicle in the new car charger outlet is electrifying.
